My trip to Montreal quickly became about food, which is great because Montreal does food well! I’m sure they’re other things to do but in the winter food is comfort, joy and a proclamation of self-love while simultaneously being the beginning of summer body dreading! Let’s eat and be merry now; winter won’t tell your secrets, summer is the squealer! As a newly self-proclaimed food connoisseur these are my tips for restaurant dinning: A busy restaurant, is invariably a good restaurant! Don’t let the line deter you, good food is worth the wait! Make reservations whenever possible and finally ask about the most ordered dish, eat that!
These are the restaurants to be sure to visit on your trip to Montreal:
- olive + gourmando- I’ve eaten a lot of breakfast for breakfast, lunch and dinner but nothing compared to here.
- Marché De La Villette- another quaint breakfast/brunch spot.
- Milos- I was impressed! Can you give a restaurant a 6 star rating? That’s what Milos deserves. My taste-buds have the fondest of memories!
- Poutineville- for poutine obviously! Poutine in its simplest form is french fries with cheese curds and gravy. The dish originated in Quebec. Poutine can be served with an array of toppings, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Made a stop at the Notre-Dame Basilica between meals to thank God for the possession of a working jaw, a bomb digestive system and a healthy appetite.
I’ll be heading back to Montréal in warmer months! I’m ready for chic outdoor dining and the experience of walking around actually seeing the cobble-stoned streets in Old Montréal instead of snow turned to slush. See you soon Montréal!
